Tether halts EURT issuance due to European regulatory environments
Tether has announced that it will stop supporting its euro stablecoin EUR and has stopped processing new minting requests in 2022. This decision is based on the increasingly complex regulatory environments of the European stablecoin market, and Tether will prioritize support for new projects such as the new MiCAR-compliant stablecoins EURQ and USDQ launched in partnership with Quantoz Payments.
Tether will also provide efficient compliance support for asset offerings, including stablecoins, through its technology platform, Hadron. Existing EUR users have until November 27, 2025 to complete the redemption operation.
