Agency: The political situation in South Korea may provide a window for investment in the semiconductor industry
Jason Hsu, founder of Allspring Global Advisors, believes that the current political situation in South Korea creates an opportunity to buy key companies in the semiconductor supply chain at a bargain price, which will still benefit from trends such as artificial intelligence and moves to diversify the supply chain, thus benefiting from the long-term bull market in the chip industry. "This has nothing to do with the political situation," Hsu said, blaming a president who has lost support for the situation. Derrick Irwin, co-head of emerging markets equities at Allspring, shared a similar view, saying: "This seems to have more to do with domestic and internal politics in South Korea than with the business environment. While unusual, this is not the first time that martial law has been declared in South Korea."
