DZ Bank and the first community bank to trial retail cryptocurrency services
The German Central Cooperative Bank (DZ Bank) has started piloting a retail cryptocurrency solution with the first bank, Westerwald Bank, to open a crypto wallet and start trading. The other cooperative banks are expected to go live in 2025, but the exact timing depends on each institution.
In March, DZ Bank partnered with the Stuttgart Stock Exchange (Börse Stuttgart) to offer retail cryptocurrency trading and custody services to its clients. DZ Bank serves 737 community banks, known as Volks and Raiffeisenbanke.
