21Shares has hired three ABRDN executives as CEO, president, and COO.
Swiss crypto asset manager 21Shares has hired Russell Barlow of ABRDN as CEO and his colleague Duncan Moir as president. ABRDN is one of the largest asset managers in the UK with an AUM close to $650 billion.
Barlow previously served as global head of alternative and multi-asset investments at abrdn, managing over $200 billion in assets. Moir led the asset manager's crypto and blockchain strategy.
In addition, Edel Bashir will serve as 21Shares chief operating officer, having previously served as abrdn alternative and multi-asset investment chief operating officer.
21.co also announced a restructuring that spun off its technology division into 21.co Technologies, a standalone company but still under 21.co Holdings. 21.co founders Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder will co-chair 21Shares and run the company's day-to-day operations.
21Shares also internally promoted Andres Valencia to executive vice president of investment management.
It is reported that since the middle of this year, 21Shares' assets under management have increased by two-thirds and are now more than $10 billion.
