The FBI warns of cryptocurrency scams that are fake for working at home
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued an alert on June 4 highlighting a surge in cryptocurrency-related fraud involving fake work-from-home opportunities. Scammers pose as legitimate businesses and lure individuals with seemingly simple tasks such as clicking a button or rating services, promising to pay them through complex and deceptive cryptocurrency-based compensation structures. Victims are often tricked into making cryptocurrency payments in order to "unlock" additional income or make alleged profits that would directly benefit the scammer. The FBI strongly advises against making any cryptocurrency payments in the context of employment and encourages victims to report such scams to its Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
