Crypto advocacy groups oppose the nomination of Democratic SEC Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw
Several crypto groups, including the Cedar Innovation Foundation, have issued ads and letters opposing the nomination of Democratic SEC commissioner Caroline Crenshaw, whose digital ad campaign claims she is "more extreme than Chairperson Gary Gensler".
In a statement, the Cedar Innovation Foundation highlighted Crenshaw's opposition to approving a spot bitcoin ETF and criticised the cryptocurrency market as a "petri dish of fraud". The Blockchain Association and other lobby groups have written to Senate lawmakers urging the commissioner's rejection.
It is reported that the US Senate Banking Committee is ready to consider the renomination of Caroline Crenshaw, whose current five-year term has expired and will be in a buffer period that could last until the end of 2025.
