Korean Crypto Movie "Crypto Man" Set for 2025

Crypto Man, a cryptocurrency-themed film directed by South Korean director Hyun Hailey, will be released on January 15, 2025. The film is based on a real-life cryptocurrency crash that caused losses of over 50 trillion won (about $34.90 billion), starring the late actor Song Jailin. The film tells the story of the protagonist Yang Daoxian (Song Jailin) who, after many failed startups, jointly launched the cryptocurrency MOMMY with friends and then encountered regulatory scrutiny. It is reported that after strict legal consultation, the film will show the life status quo of young South Koreans "trading stocks during the day and trading cryptocurrencies at night" in the form of black humor. According to Upbit data, there were 3,759 cryptocurrency multimillionaires in South Korea by the end of 2023, with investors in their 20s holding $3.65 million in digital assets.
