Key Suspect in 2.20 million Dollar Cryptocurrency Scam Faces Up to 20 Years in Prison

Robert Wesley Robb, a 46-year-old man from Colorado, pleaded guilty to wire fraud when he defrauded investors with a false promise Maximum Extractable Value (MEV) cryptocurrency trading robot, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Friday. Robb solicited investments through social media, claiming high returns and forcing individuals to invest quickly. On September 8, 2023, an investor from Virginia transferred $100,000 to Robb. Later, Robb fraudulently encouraged another investor to reinvest $50,000, citing dilution of profits from another investor. Investigations revealed that Robb misappropriated investor funds for personal luxuries, including renting an executive suite at Mergau Stadium, purchasing a Jeep Wagoneer, and taking a vacation to the Bahamas. More than 10 investors collectively lost more than $2.2 million. Rob faces up to 20 years in prison and is due to be sentenced on October 2.
