Ukraine plans to legalize cryptocurrencies in early 2025
According to Ukrainian Pravda, it is expected that cryptocurrencies will be legalized in Ukraine by Quarter 1, 2025, but it is unlikely to provide tax breaks. Danylo Hetmantsev, chairperson of the Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, said: "When it comes to cryptocurrencies, the working group of the parliament is completing the first reading of a draft law. I believe that the text developed in cooperation with the National Bank and the international monetary fund (IMF) will be ready after the new year. Our goal is to pass this law and legalize cryptocurrencies by Quarter 1, 2025." According to Hetmantsev, cryptocurrencies will not be exempt from taxation, and the form of taxation will follow that of securities, taxing profits when assets are converted into money. " After consulting with European experts and the IMF, we have taken a very cautious approach to the use of cryptocurrencies for tax exemptions, as this could exacerbate tax evasion in traditional markets, "he said.
