Trump: For me, the stock market is everything

President-elect Donald Trump rang the opening bell on Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange, the day he was named Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2024. "If you don't make [goods] here [in the US], you pay a 21 per cent tax," Mr. Trump said in an interview after ringing the bell. "If you make here, we're going to try to get the tax rate down to 15 per cent, and you have to make your products in the US." Mr. Trump also attributed the recent rally in the stock market to his victory over Mr. Biden rather than Mr. Harris. "I've always said, for me, the stock market is everything. It's very important." He also revealed that he would return to the White House to build closer ties with some of the richest and most influential people.
