The Korean Constitutional Court will complete the impeachment trial process within 180 days

On December 14th, according to Yonhap News Agency, the South Korean National Assembly passed the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yuk with 204 votes in favor and 85 votes against on the afternoon of the 14th. According to the procedure, after the impeachment case is passed by the National Assembly, it will be handed over to the Constitutional Court for trial, and the trial process can last up to 180 days. During this period, Yoon Seok-yuk will be suspended from the presidency and replaced by Prime Minister Han Duk-soo. If Han Duk-soo is suspended due to the impeachment initiated by the opposition party, Vice Premier of Economy and Minister of Finance Choi Sang-mu will act as president and prime minister.
