Dogecoin was found to have a vulnerability called "Dogereaper" that could affect the node structure
Dogecoin was recently hit by a vulnerability that severely affected its node structure. The vulnerability is called "Dogereaper". It is reported that Sequentia developer Andreas Kohl crashed 69% of Dogecoin nodes using only an old laptop from El Salvador. While the attack severely affected Dogecoin nodes, it could have been worse: Tobias Ruck, an ecash developer, and Roqqit, another developer, have disclosed the vulnerability. Tobias Ruck said he first discovered the vulnerability while developing Doged (a replacement for Dogecoin Core), and found an unfixed segmentation fault in the original code during a porting code test for their replacement software.
Tobias Ruck explained: "We will not tolerate node crashes, we put a lot of effort into cyber security, this attack could be more serious, all the important stakeholders, such as miners, exchanges, etc., patched long before the attack, which shows how important it is for us to proceed with caution."
