Ripple CTO: Expect shortage when RLUSD launches
David Schwartz, chief technology officer at Ripple, said there could be a potential "supply shortage" in the early days of Ripple's dollar-pegged stablecoin launch, but warned investors against "FOMO".
On December 15, Schwartz posted on X that he expects the RippleUSD (RLUSD) stablecoin to experience hyper-volatility immediately after its launch, and that some large orders will still occur despite the token's design maintaining a 1:1 parity with the U.S. dollar.
He pointed out that the currently unreleased stablecoin had artificially inflated its value with some small pre-market bidders ahead of its launch - he responded to a post on X that showed 1 RLUSD was worth around 511 XRP (XRP) on a Ripple wallet called Xaman - worth $1,244 at current prices.
