Bitcoin's price-to-gold ratio hits a record high of 37.3

The cryptocurrency's price breakout pushed its ratio to gold to record levels this week as institutional investors continued to pile into bitcoin through the end of the year. The ratio, which measures how many ounces of gold 1 bitcoin can buy, is calculated by dividing the price of bitcoin by the spot price of gold and is often used to compare the relative strength of two assets, as well as to gauge investor preferences. On Monday, the ratio hit an unprecedented 37.3, meaning 1 bitcoin can now buy about 37 ounces of gold, a new all-time high. The current ratio is about half a percentage point higher than the peak of 36.7 in the cryptocurrency's last bull run in November 2021. (Golden Ten)
