Fox reporter: Democrats can nominate SEC Commissioner Crenshaw again, but whether to renominate him will be up to Trump
According to Fox Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, after the Senate Banking Committee dropped its push to nominate anti-crypto SEC commissioner Caroline Crenshaw for re-election, Crenshaw remains on the committee and could serve until her successor is confirmed, or until Congress adjourns next year.
Under congressional procedure, the minority party (in this case, the Democratic Party) will typically recommend a candidate to fill the minority seat on the committee. The President may, at his discretion, listen to their advice, but he is under no obligation to do so. Thus, Democrats may, at Elizabeth Warren's request, re-nominate Crenshaw, but it will be up to Donald Trump himself to renominate her.
