Former FTX executive Ryan Salame could be released from prison a year early

According to BusinessInsider, Salame, a former FTX executive, pleaded guilty last September to participating in a conspiracy to make illegal political donations and operate a money transfer business without a license. He was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and began serving his sentence in October. According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records, Salame's release date is set for March 1, 2031, just over a year short of the 7.5-year mark. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Prisons said the agency does not comment on the conditions of imprisonment of any detainees, including release plans, but said that under the First Step Act of 2018, detainees can receive reduced time if they behave well.
