Former Fintech CEO Sentenced to 3.75 Years in Prison for Crypto Price Manipulation
Former Hydrogen Technology Corporation CEO Michael Kane was sentenced to 45 months in prison for manipulating cryptocurrency prices, and former head of financial engineering Shane Hampton was sentenced to 35 months. Kane was charged with manipulating the volume and price of Hydro (HYDRO) tokens and pleaded guilty to securities price manipulation and telegraphic transfer fraud. The case is the first time cryptocurrencies have been recognized as securities in a federal criminal trial.
