The average blob size in Celestia has increased about 10-fold in the past two weeks
On January 14th, the number of blobs on Celestia has continued to increase significantly over the past two weeks. The blob size of Celestia is interchangeably referred to as the number of blobs published on Celestia.
Between June 20 and December 20, 2024, the average blob size on Celestia was approximately 1.18GB. However, over the past two weeks, this figure has almost doubled tenfold to an average of 11.4GB. The nearly 10x increase in blob size is likely due to NFT casting that occurred during this period, as well as more projects choosing to use Celestia as their data availability tier.
Likewise, the daily volume of transactions on Celestia has also increased significantly during this period. Over the same time frame (June 20 to December 20), Celestia averaged around 44,000 transactions per day. Over the past two weeks, this figure has increased by more than 60% to an average of 71,000 transactions per day.
