The SEC released a statement on Gensler's departure

Today is Gensler's last day at the SEC, the SEC said in a statement. Chairperson Gensler, a longtime public service veteran, joined the SEC in 2021. Previously, he served as Chairperson of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Marekt, and Senior Advisor to U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes. He brings his extensive experience and knowledge of financial marekt to the chairpersonship as we work together to advance the Commission's mission to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and promote capital formation. While as commissioners we approach policy issues from different angles, we also have dignity in our differences. Chairperson Gensler has been committed to bipartisan cooperation and a respectful exchange of ideas that has helped advance our service to the American public. For that, we are deeply grateful.
