Trump appoints FTX prosecutor as top interim federal prosecutor in Manhattan

US President Donald Trump has appointed Danielle Sassoon as interim head of the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, with responsibility for Manhattan and surrounding areas. Sassoon led the prosecution of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, which ended with a 25-year prison sentence for Bankman-Fried. In addition, she was involved in the Department of Justice case against Terra founder Do Kwon. Sassoon is a graduate of Harvard University and Yale Law School and served as the clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. She will lead the Southern District Attorney's Office until Jay Clayton, Trump's nominee, completes the confirmation process.
