Musk and Trump may have a rift over the "Stargate" project

Hours after Mr. Trump announced a major artificial intelligence investment, he was questioned by Mr. Musk, one of his closest allies, according to the AXIOS website. Mr. Musk's public sabotage of the $500 billion project, led by OpenAI and other tech giants, is likely to anger Mr. Trump. The two have grown closer since Mr. Trump won back the White House, but it may be one of their most public disagreements to date. "They don't actually have the money," Mr. Musk said on Tuesday night's X in response to OpenAI's announcement. Mr. Musk said he had "credible authority" and that SoftBank had made sure it was "well below" $10 billion. Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, then responded to Mr. Musk by urging him to put the country ahead of his company.
