Bitstamp, Crypto.com Suspend Some Stablecoin Services to Meet MiCA Requirements
Digital asset exchanges Bitstamp and Crypto.com will suspend certain token services deemed unauthorized under the European Union's Crypto Asset Markets legislation (MiCA). Stablecoins such as Tether's USDt and Paypal's PYUSD will no longer be traded through Bitstamp's professional and basic trading model as of January 31st. However, custody of these assets will be allowed on the platform.
Crypto.com statement said that as of January 31, it will no longer offer certain stablecoin services, such as Tether USDT, Paypal USD, Pax dollar, as well as Crypto.com Staked ETH and Crypto.com Staked SOL. CoinDesk contacted Tether, Paypal and Paxos for comment.
