Global crypto fraud could exceed $10 billion in 2024
Blockchain research firm Chainalysis has warned of a surge in so-called romance scams as cybercriminals exploit artificial intelligence (AI) and become more organized, with global crypto fraud revenue estimates reaching record levels last year. According to its preliminary estimates, crypto wallets linked to scams received $9.90 billion worth of cryptocurrency in 2024, the firm said in a report released Thursday. The firm predicts that the amount of crypto scams in 2024 will grow to a record $12.40 billion as more scam wallets are discovered. (Global Market Broadcast)
