Nigeria's SEC values local cryptocurrency industry at $400 million
The head of Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Emomotimi Agama, has predicted that the volume of cryptocurrency trading will increase in the coming years despite the country's recent crackdown on exchanges. "The cryptocurrency market in the country is estimated to be worth more than $400 million, and a significant portion of the population is involved in cryptocurrency trading," Agama said. According to Agama, at least 33.4% of the country's population owns or uses cryptocurrencies.
