Trump: Will travel to Fort Knox to ensure gold reserves are safe
On Wednesday, Trump told reporters: We're going to Fort Knox to make sure the gold is indeed there.
Fort Knox, a US Army base in Kentucky, is known to hold more than half of the US Treasury's gold reserves. In the 1930s, the Treasury moved gold from New York and Philadelphia to Fort Knox to make it more vulnerable to attack. Most of the rest of the gold bars are stored in facilities in Denver and West Point, New York.
Previously, Musk had suggested on the X platform that Fort Knox's gold reserves be reviewed at least once a year. (Golden Ten)
