The FTX bankruptcy cost nearly $1 billion, making it one of the most expensive bankruptcy cases in U.S. history. As of Jan. 2, nearly $948 million had been paid to more than a dozen companies hired to handle the bankruptcy, and courts had approved more than $952 million, records show.
