On March 19, local time, under the mediation of Qatari Emir (Head of State) Tamim, President Tshisekedi of Congo (DRC) and President Kagame of Rwanda met to discuss the conflict in eastern DRC and issued a joint statement. The statement said that the heads of state agreed on the need to continue to launch negotiations in Doha to lay a solid foundation for lasting peace. The three heads of state welcomed the progress made in the Luanda and Nairobi processes and the joint summit of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on February 8, 2025, and reiterated that all parties should abide by the summit consensus and immediately and unconditionally cease fire. The three heads of state agreed to continue the Doha talks and lay the foundation for lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the region.
