CryptoPunk#The 3100 sold for about $6 million, down nearly $10 million from last March
NFT CryptoPunk #The 3100 was sold for 4,000 ETH (about $6 million) on April 10, a significant decrease of $10 million from the 4,500 ETH purchased in March last year (worth more than $16 million at the time). According to CryptoSlam, the depreciation was mainly due to the decline in the exchange rate of Ethereum against the US dollar - the price of ETH fell by about 8.94% compared with the same period last year.
This transaction highlights the continued downturn in the NFT market. Since 2022, the trading volume of leading NFT series such as CryptoPunks and BAYC has continued to shrink, and it has been particularly dismal recently. It is worth noting that the NFT's $16 million turnover in April last year was the third highest in history.
In May 2023, Yuga Labs, the parent company of CryptoPunks, announced that it would "no longer intervene" in the operation of the original series due to the community controversy caused by the launch of a derivative project. The company acquired the iconic NFT brand in 2022, but failed to reverse the market decline.
