On the 11th local time, Lawrence Summers, the former US Treasury secretary, said on a TV program: "The level of tariffs now is more than ten times higher than when the United States launched the trade war in 2018. I think any statement that'tariffs have other [positive] effects' other than making prices higher is fundamentally fraudulent." He also said that the US government's policy of arbitrarily increasing tariffs is very dangerous.
