Foreign media: Pentagon's defense digital services team resigns en masse

Employees in the Defense Department's Digital Services division have resigned en masse under pressure from the Department of Government Effectiveness, Politico reported. Three employees told Politico that the men's resignations will shut down the decade-old program by the end of the month. The agency was founded in 2015 to help the Defense Department adopt technology solutions during a national security crisis, with the goal of enabling Silicon Valley-style innovation inside the Pentagon, it was learned. The Defense Digital Services division helped set up rapid response tools that helped the military during the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, military aid to Ukraine, humanitarian aid and drone detection, the report said. Jennifer Hay, who heads the 14-person team, plans to leave by May 1, while the other 11 employees will accept President Trump's deferred resignation package. According to Politico, two other employees will also leave. A Pentagon spokesperson told Politico that the office's functions will be absorbed by the chief digital and artificial intelligence office.
