European Union official warns: Preliminary investigation into supply of NVIDIA AI chips
Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, executive vice-chairperson of the European Union Commission, has warned that there is a "huge bottleneck" in the supply of artificial intelligence (AI) chips from Nvidia. Vestager told the media during her trip to Singapore that European Union regulators are still considering whether and what action to take, "We have been asking them questions, but this is only a preliminary move. So far, this cannot be counted as regulatory action." Vestager mentioned that the supply of AI chips is tight, and the secondary market may help stimulate innovation and fair competition. But she pointed out that the dominant companies may face certain behavioral restrictions in the future.
