The British Prime Minister will appoint Tulip Siddiq as the UK's finance minister, with responsibilities including the regulation of cryptoassets
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will appoint Tulip Siddiq as UK Finance Secretary, a position that falls under the Treasury, making her a central figure in regulating and advocating for the key financial services industry. Siddiq, who has been an MP since 2015, is expected to be appointed as the Treasury's economics secretary, according to people familiar with the matter. This is her equivalent position in Starmer's shadow cabinet. The position is known as City Secretary, referring to the City of London and the wider financial services industry in the UK. Its responsibilities also include overseeing fintech, crypto assets and debt management policies.
Previously, Tulip Siddiq said that if Labour wins the election, it will work to transform the UK into a global center for tokenized assets.
