On July 10, Worldcoin released an announcement saying, "Shortly after the launch of Worldcoin in July 2023, the Worldcoin Foundation introduced a WLD token reservation mechanism to allow users who have not yet passed the verification to reserve WLD tokens to redeem at some point in the future. This is done to allow as many people as possible to participate in Worldcoin, regardless of whether orb devices are available or not." The announcement further stated that the original deadline for the application of this part of the token was July 31, but it is now extended by one year to July 31, 2025.
