The US Secret Service has rejected requests for increased security at Trump rallies
According to the New York Times, four people familiar with the matter said that in the two years leading up to Trump's attempted assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally last Saturday, top U.S. Secret Service officials had repeatedly rejected requests from Trump's security personnel for additional resources and personnel. Agents tasked with keeping the former president safe have asked for magnetometers and more agents at sporting events and other large public gatherings attended by Trump, as well as additional snipers and special operations teams at other outdoor events. They said the requests, which had never been reported before, were sometimes rejected by senior officials at the agency, citing a variety of reasons, including the agency's long-running struggle with staffing shortages and a lack of resources.
