Last week, Unicaja, one of Spain's top five banks, said its venture capital arm invested in cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me. The startup, which has more than a million customers, is the first cryptocurrency service provider to be registered with a Spanish bank. Terms of the deal were not announced, but the Spanish bank holds more than 5 percent of the exchange and has joined its board of directors. In addition, the two companies also signed a business cooperation agreement. The bank wants a technology partner to explore three emerging areas: new opportunities arising from the European Union's MiCA regulations; asset tokenization and broader blockchain under the DLT pilot regime; and the digital euro. In addition, Bit2Me plans to offer Unicaja banking services to its customers.
