Gemini calls on the US government to nominate the next SEC chairperson before the election
Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss said the US government must "take action" to inform the cryptocurrency industry who will lead the SEC before the election.
"Before we go to the ballot box, we should demand to know who the next SEC chairperson is," Mr. Winklevoss said in a lengthy post yesterday. He also revealed that he and his brother Cameron Winklevoss had not been invited to a recent White House event because of their support for Donald Trump.
According to Winklevoss, this "perfectly captures" the Biden-Harris administration's position on the crypto industry. "The Biden-Harris administration has an opportunity this week to try and reset its relationship with the crypto industry," he said. "That's the stakes, that's how you make crypto bipartisan. Our industry should not tolerate any possibility of a repeat of the past 4 years. Asking Harris, or anyone calling the shots, to act by November is the most nonpartisan of all positions. As an industry, we should be completely aligned on this."
