Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission warns public to beware of Proxinex suspected of engaging in virtual asset-related fraud
The Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission has issued a press release warning the public to be on the lookout for virtual asset-related fraud by an entity operating under the name "Proxinex". Investors reported difficulties withdrawing virtual assets from Proxinex and were later told that their "accounts do not exist". The Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission also suspected that Proxinex had hired agents to induce investors to deposit money with Proxinex through a dating app. The agent may have falsified documents purporting to have been issued by a Hong Kong financial regulator and a Financial Institution Group to whitewash his CV. The Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission has placed Proxinex and its related websites on the Securities Supervision Commission's Suspicious Virtual Asset Trading Platform Alert List on July 29, 2024. Although the relevant websites are currently unavailable, the public should beware that fraudsters may continue to establish websites with similar domains.
