The Cardano ecosystem has been waiting for the Chang fork upgrade. With the upgrade, Cardano will enter the Voltaire era. According to the official blog post, the Voltaire era marks a new dawn for Cardano, where governance will be decentralized, inclusive and transparent. Hoskinson elaborated on the significance of the Chang fork upgrade for the entire ecosystem. He stated that this is the most important milestone for Cardano. Cardano will be a decentralized civilization with millions of inhabitants spread across the globe. We will have a state-of-the-art blockchain governance system, annual budget, treasury, and the wisdom of the entire community to guide us.
