Musk vetoed OpenAI's ICO plans in 2018

According to a public court filing on November 14, Mr. Musk vetoed OpenAI's ICO plans in 2018. Mr. Musk and his legal team said the founders of OpenAI, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, wanted to launch tokens in early 2018 to help make the company profitable. At the time, Mr. Musk said, "This will only lead to a huge loss of credibility for OpenAI and everyone involved in the ICO". OpenAI was originally a non-profit organization. Musk joined OpenAI as co-chairperson of the board and invested $44 million in the startup. Musk even suggested merging OpenAI with Tesla to solve the artificial intelligence startup's funding problems. However, Musk left OpenAI in February 2018 and founded his own artificial intelligence company xAI.
