ChatGPT for macOS has been accused of storing AI conversations in plain text, and OpenAI has been urgently updated to fix it
On July 4th, developer Pedro Vieito released a message on the Thread platform two days ago, saying that the ChatGPT app for macOS will store user conversations in plain text. OpenAI responded today that it has updated its app to encrypt chat records stored on Mac devices.
According to Vieito's analysis, since conversations are stored in plain text outside the sandbox, this also means that without the user's knowledge, conversations can be accessed by other applications, processes, and even malicious software running on the Mac.
