African Union approves member states to adopt artificial intelligence
The African Union (AU) Executive Council has approved the "Continental Artificial Intelligence Strategy for Africa", which aims to drive the adoption of artificial intelligence in the public and private sectors by member states, including Nigeria. The endorsement strategy outlines several key recommendations, among them the establishment of an integrated hardware and software environment designed specifically for artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads to facilitate data processing and deployment. The strategy also emphasizes the establishment of an artificial intelligence governance system to drive the adoption of artificial intelligence in the public sector and integrate artificial intelligence into the focus areas outlined in Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.
