SpaceX will fly a manned polar mission this year, led by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Chun Wang
On August 13, according to IT House, the US space exploration technology company SpaceX announced on Monday that it will carry out the first manned human mission around the earth's poles by the end of this year. The private space mission is led by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Chun Wang, and the other three members include a polar explorer, a robotics expert and a filmmaker. It is reported that Chun Wang is the co-founder of F2Pool.
The Fram2 mission, named after the Norwegian expedition ship Fram, will take the Endurance Dragon spacecraft from SpaceX's Florida launch site into the polar corridor and fly directly over the North and South Pole. Instead of docking with the International Space Station (ISS), the spacecraft will orbit Earth alone. For optimal lighting conditions, the three- to five-day mission is planned to fly over Antarctica around the summer solstice in the southern hemisphere, and the spacecraft will be equipped with a dome capsule for photography.
This will be SpaceX's third Crew Dragon free flight mission, following the Inspiration 4 mission in 2021 and the upcoming Polaris Dawn mission later this month.
