Musk: X will shut down Brazilian operations to resist illegal censorship
Musk has announced that X is closing its offices in Brazil, while retaining services in the country, after being unable to agree to the (illegal) secret review and transfer of private information requests from the justices of the Supreme Court of Brazil. X Global Government Affairs said in a post, "Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court of Brazil has threatened to arrest our legal representative in Brazil if we do not comply with his censorship order. And said the move was based on a secret order that we share here to expose his actions. To protect the safety of employees, the decision was made to close the business in Brazil, effective immediately." It is not clear how large X's business in Brazil is. According to Sensor Tower, the platform had about 20 million active users in Brazil as of Quarter 1, down about 15 percent from a year earlier.
