Trump: Bitcoin miners help stabilize energy supply to the power grid
Matthew Schultz, executive chairperson of bitcoin mining company CleanSpark Inc., said several bitcoin miners met with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday night.
Schultz said Trump told attendees that he loves and understands cryptocurrencies, adding that bitcoin miners help stabilize energy supplies to the grid. Trump said he would speak out for miners at the White House.
The conference comes at a time when crypto miners are facing a backlash over a range of issues, including climate change and its impact on local power grids. Democrats have been spearheading efforts to increase scrutiny of bitcoin miners' energy consumption and carbon emissions, while Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been a high-profile supporter of the industry.
