Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan has been detained in Nigeria for six months, and his wife has pleaded for his immediate release
Tigran Gambaryan, the head of financial crime compliance at Binance, has been detained in Nigeria for six months. His wife, Yuki Gambaryan, in a video statement released recently, pleaded for her husband's immediate release, saying his health had deteriorated dramatically, he could no longer walk and he had suffered from malarial pneumonia several times during his detention. Gambaryan was detained in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, in February this year and was initially placed under house arrest before being transferred to Kuje prison. He is currently facing money laundering charges, all of which are unsubstantiated. His plight has attracted the attention of some members of the US Congress, who have called for his immediate and humane release. The US government has yet to issue a public statement on Gambaryan's situation.
