The number of global cryptocurrency millionaires has surged by 95% in the past year.
New World Wealth and Henley & Partners jointly released a new research report showing that the number of global cryptocurrency millionaires increased by 95% year-on-year to 172,300 as of August 2024. Among them, the number of individuals holding bitcoin assets over $1 million increased by 103% to 85,400. The report also pointed out that the number of individuals with cryptocurrency assets over $100 million increased to 325, and the number of billionaires increased to 28, an increase of 6 from the same period last year.
This significant growth is mainly due to the successful launch of Bitcoin ETFs and their rapid development. Since their approval in January 2024, the asset size of Bitcoin ETFs has exceeded $50 billion, driving a significant increase in institutional investor participation. As of the date of the report, the price of Bitcoin has risen by 45% during the year to around $64,000, pushing the overall crypto asset market cap to $2.30 trillion.
