Binance executive detained in Nigeria pleads with judge to allow him to undergo back surgery
Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who is in poor health, pleaded with a Nigerian judge on Monday to allow him to undergo back surgery because he has a herniated disc.
"I have been complaining about this problem, but it has never been resolved", said Gambaryan, 40, as his money laundering trial in Abuja, Nigeria's capital, continued. "My nerves have been permanently damaged due to lack of proper treatment, which is why I am in this condition now, I can no longer walk", added Gambaryan, who limped into the courtroom after being denied access to a wheelchair.
Since being imprisoned in a prison near Abuja in April, Gambaryan has denied the prosecution's allegations, but he has been suffering from pneumonia and malaria.
