VanEck plans to close and liquidate its Ethereum futures ETF "EFUT"
ETF issuer VanEck has announced plans to close and liquidate its Ethereum futures ETF, and the VanEck ETF Trust board has approved the liquidation and dissolution of the fund. VanEck said VanEck continuously monitors and evaluates its ETF offering across a number of factors, including performance, liquidity, asset size under management and investor interest. The decision was made based on an analysis of these factors and other operational considerations to liquidate the fund.
It is reported that shareholders of the fund can sell their shares on the listed exchange of the fund before the market close on September 16, 2024 (which may be subject to brokerage transaction fees). After the market close on September 16, 2024, the shares of the fund will no longer be traded on the listed exchange and will subsequently be delisted. The expected liquidation date of the fund is on or around September 23, 2024, at which time shareholders who still hold shares in the fund will receive a cash liquidation distribution equal to the net asset value of their shares in the cash portion of their brokerage account.
