Microsoft India X account hijacked by cryptocurrency scammers
Cryptocurrency scammers recently hijacked the official Microsoft India X account with over 211,000 followers, posing as Roaring Kitty (a pseudonym for famous meme stock trader Keith Gill). Microsoft India's X account is marked with a gold checkmark, indicating it has been officially verified, which adds credibility to the fraudulent post. The hijacked account is used to reply to tweets, directing fans and other users to malicious websites, falsely claiming to offer Gamestop (GME) cryptocurrency pre-sale. This phishing site is designed to steal the assets of anyone who connects to a cryptocurrency wallet and authorizes transactions.
In addition, many bot accounts retweeted hijacked posts, expanding their reach and ensnaring more victims.
