Telegram Founder: Internet Protocol Addresses and Phone Numbers May Be Provided to Law Enforcement Agencies
Telegram founder Pavel Durov said in a post on his personal TG channel that Telegram's search function, which helps users find public channels and bots, has also been abused, with some users using it to sell illegal goods.
Over the past few weeks, Telegram's dedicated team has used AI technology to significantly enhance the security of searches, making all identified violations inaccessible. Durov also said that Telegram has updated its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to clarify that the IP address and phone number of violators may be provided to relevant law enforcement agencies upon legal request to combat illegal activities and ensure the security and proper use of the platform.
